GO Foods vs SLOW Foods Activity
Know Your GO Foods Activity 1
This is a sample activity from the Healthy Start, Health Education Program for Preschoolers
Have a discussion with the children about traffic signals and what they tell us.
Ask the children:
What do you think of when you see a green circle?
GO - a green light tells us it's ok to GO, to move forward
Ask a child to demonstrate "GO" or any type of movement.
What do you think of when you see a yellow triangle?
SLOW down, use caution - a yellow light or a yield sign tells us to move with caution.
Ask a child to demonstrate moving slowly.
Tell the children that they are going to be learning about how foods help their bodies "GO!" and grow, and how some foods make their bodies slow and do not help them grow strong and healthy.
Have the children cut pictures of food from magazines and as a group separate them into two groups, GO Foods and SLOW Foods.
Have the children paste the GO foods onto a page with a green circle and the SLOW foods onto a page with a yellow triangle.
