Preschoool Self Esteem, Confidence, and Identity

Spectacular Me Unit

The spectacular me unit focuses on developing positive feelings about children's bodies and personalities.

Activities in the self-concept unit are designed to help children identify themselves as capable and special;

to identify aspects of their bodies, personalities, and abilities about which they feel good;

to be able to express their feelings;

to understand that their feelings are important and that people can feel differently about the very same things.

The unit culminates in the development of a "ME" Book made by each child which can be added to throughout the school year, whenever appropriate.

Goals and Objectives

  • Children will demonstrate positive feelings about themselves

  • Children will be able to express how they feel about themselves and different situations.

  • Children will be able to identify and discuss when they feel uncomfortable or unhappy about a situation.

  2. Every person is special.

  3. Every child can think of something about themselves that is good and special.

  4. If a child feels unhappy, angry, or uncomfortable, he or she should talk about that feeling.

  5. Keeping your body healthy and strong is a way to keep it special.

Nutrition bonus lesson:
