Getting along with Grown Ups
Getting Along Activity 2
Ask the children to name adults and children that they like to visit. Ask each child to talk about one special grownup that they like to visit. Encourage them to include adults that they enjoy and who make them feel good and safe. (Suggest grandparents, parents that they do not live with, adults friends of their families, neighbors, special teachers, etc...)
What do they like about this person?
What kinds of things do they do when they are visiting with this person?
Be sure to point out that many people have family members who they do not live with but enjoy visiting. Also, there are adults who are not part of their families who make them feel good and safe and they enjoy visiting.
This is a sample activity from the Healthy Start, Health Education Program for Preschoolers
Set up the dramatic play area to include two homes and encourage the children to "visit" with each other.
